🏒 Here’s what you can expect from Power Skating:
All sessions held at NoCo Ice Center
🔹 Who Is Power Skating For?
WHAT TO EXPECT
✔ Edge control and balance through full range-of-motion skating
✔ Stride mechanics, posture, and weight transfer for efficient speed
✔ Starts, stops, and transitions with control and purpose
✔ Skating alignment and power-angle awareness
✔ Building confidence with puck control through repeatable, intentional movement patterns
✔ MUST be able to perform forward AND backward crossovers
✔ MUST have strong backward balance
(Examples: 1-foot glide, C-cuts, backward crossovers — recommended)

- Coordination drills to improve edge awareness and puck control
- Multitasking skills: maintaining skating quality while handling the puck
- Rhythm, timing, and flow for smoother movement on the ice

- Confidence-building reps that translate skating skills into game situations

This program is ideal for players who want to:

- Feel more confident skating at higher speeds
- Learn to carry and control the puck without sacrificing skating quality
- Build a solid skating foundation that supports long-term player development

⚠️ IMPORTANT SKILLS NOTICE (Please Read)
Power Skating is NOT Learn to Skate for Hockey.
If your player needs to work on:
- Forward or backward C-cuts
- Crossovers
👉 They should be enrolled in Learn to Skate (Basic Skills 3–6), where these skills are taught and developed.
Power Skating assumes athletes are already proficient in basic skating mechanics and focuses on:
- Developing POWER
- Maintaining power while controlling a puck
🚨 If a player cannot perform the required skating skills, they may be asked to leave the session.
👉 NO REFUNDS will be given.
💰 Other Fee Information
• Due to limited space, no sibling discounts are offered
• No sessions will be pro-rated due to missed sessions
• Players unable to attend their assigned ice time may NOT attend other sessions
LIZ EGETOE
INTERNATIONAL POWER SKATING COACH
Liz Egetoe is the owner of Back to Basics Athletics and has been coaching skating development since 1997. With nearly three decades of coaching experience, Liz has developed skating systems used by players across the USA Hockey development model — from grassroots programs to junior, collegiate, and professional levels.
Her background combines international power skating instruction with athletic training and performance development. An International Sports Sciences Association Certified Trainer and USA Hockey–affiliated coach, Liz blends elite-level skating mechanics with athletic development principles to create skaters who move with speed, control, and purpose.
Liz specializes in skating mechanics, edge control, power transfer, and movement efficiency. Her training integrates biomechanical alignment, joint stability, and athletic performance principles to create sustainable speed — not just temporary quickness.
Her experience spans youth, Tier 1, junior, collegiate, and professional players across the USA Hockey and European pathways, including 3HL, NAHL, USHL, ECHL, CHL, and NHL levels.
