U8 Full Ice League

NCYH is putting on a FULL ICE LEAGUE this summer for kids with birth years 2017 and 2018!  

The kids will get the opportunity to play hockey with all of its rules, scoring, line changes, positions, coaching tips, and tactical ideas included!! The goal will be to introduce the kids to competitive hockey in a fun, fast-paced environment, and allow them to compete against another team using the entirety of the ice and all the rules of the sport. NCYH Hockey Directors will be on the ice to serve not only as referees, but also as mentors and teachers, especially when it comes to tactics and rules of the sport.  

The league will consist of NCYH-based U8 players. There will be a minimum of 4 teams, and each team will play 15 games throughout the summer. All teams will receive jerseys to keep as part of the registration fee. Games will take place exclusively at NoCo Ice Center on Tuesdays and Fridays, beginning the week of 6/2, and ending with a 3^rd place game and a championship game on 7/28. The league will be off the week of July 4th. Each team will play twice per week, and score will be kept and results/standings posted. Games will last one hour, with the first and second periods consisting of 17-minute run clocks, and the third period using the remainder of the allotted hour.  

Registration will be specific to goaltender or skater, so please be aware of which position you are registering for. There will be a maximum of 2 goaltenders and 15 skaters per team, and each skater will be asked to try every position available, from Center to Wing to Defense. It's important that the skaters get a taste of all positions to see where they're comfortable and what they like! In the event that the league fills quickly and there is enough interest to form a 5^th team, we would take that into consideration...please email Scott Swanson (directorswanson@ncyh.org) to be added to the waitlist if you didn't register in time. Adding a 5^th team would require additional ice slots, which would likely occur on the weekends. Once registration is complete, NCYH will create the teams and email the league schedule to all participants. Our goal would be to create equal teams, and if league play begins and teams are clearly unfair, we will make trades. The only requests we will honor are sibling/family members...they will play on the same team. If you are interested in helping the kids on the bench, please email directorswanson@ncyh.org so that information can be tracked as well.
