Checking Clinics

NCYH will offer three checking clinics for the 2025 off season

Spaces will be limited to 30 skaters per Camp, and it is allowed/encouraged for kids new to body checking to register for multiple camps if they'd like. Players will be asked to find a partner of similar skill level and size so as to keep safe learning the priority. Please have the kids bring a light AND dark jersey to the final session, which will be a full ice, controlled scrimmage so they can put their body checking skills into immediate practice. Hockey Directors will help to create two equal teams, so having both light AND dark jerseys will expedite the process. Checking Clinics at NCYH have sold out quickly in the past so please register early.

• Strongly recommended for Bantams (BY 2012, 2013), especially 2013 birth year kids, and highly encouraged for Peewees (2014, 2015)

Camp 1 - June 16, 19, 20, 21 2026

Cover fundamentals of taking and receiving a body check

Do’s and Don’t’s of body contact

Will put body contact into practice through small area games and full ice scrimmage

You will be contacted by the NCYH Hockey Directors letting you know which time your ice session will be. 

No group/schedule requests- Groups will not be sent out until 2-3 weeks prior to the clinic
