2026-2027
Coach Swanny will be offering a series of controlled scrimmages prior to tryouts taking place this season. Each session will have a tactical theme, including offensive zone forecheck, neutral zone forecheck, defensive zone coverage, defensive zone starting positions and responsibilities, etc. It will give the kids an opportunity to learn/remember their Travel PW tactics and put themselves in the best possible position to be successful at tryouts. It will give the kids a chance for full-ice game action and allow them to start getting back into game shape. It will give Coach Swanny 3 more opportunities to watch each of the kids so that assessments aren't left to just the tryout sessions. Finally, for those who make Travel PW teams, it will give those kids a tactical head start on many of their opponents.
This is the 8th year NCYH has offered the pre-tryout scrimmages...last year they sold out quickly and we expect them to sell out very quickly again!
Coach Swanny will run all of the on-ice sessions, and assistant coaches are welcome to help on the benches.
Skater Cost - $60 for 3 sessions
Goalie Cost - $30 for 3 sessions
In years' past, we had different registrations for Forwards and Defensemen...not the case this year. We would like to see a number of the kids play different positions prior to the season so they can experience different areas of the game, and so that we can see how they can adjust to new information and positions.
If the sessions sell out and you would like to participate, please put your child on the waitlist. There are 64 skater openings available, and we have 93 skaters registered to play, so please register early if you want to participate.
GOALIES - Please notice there is a special registration for the goaltenders, so please DO NOT register as a skater and take up an available spot in our system. The plan is to create 4 teams for the scrimmages, which would allow for 8 goalies in the pre-tryout scrimmages. There are 11 goalies registered for PW Travel, so please register early if you want a spot.
Once we close registration, Swanny will make the teams and contact everyone with their times. All communications will come through the Crossbar system.
There will be 3 sessions per team, and the schedule will be (subject to change):
Wednesday, 8/12 4:45-5:45PM OR 6:00-7:00PM at NoCo
Saturday, 8/15 10:15-11:15AM OR 11:30AM-12:30PM at NoCo
Sunday, 8/16 11:00AM-12:00PM OR 12:15-1:15PM at NoCO
